Shame and sorrow at the Japanese aerial atrocities are expressed in a letter to the 'Times', signed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rev. M. E. Auorey, general secretary of the Baptist Union, and Rev. Sidney M. Berry, secretary of the Congregational Union and other religious bodies.
A boycott of Japanese goods will be discussed at a meeting of the state A.L.P. Executive next Monday. Delegates are divided into two camps. Some believe that the Labor party should subscribe to the policy of collective security; others stand by the isolation policy of the Opposition leader, Mr. Curtin.
Proposals for the boycott of Japanese goods will, it is expected, come before the Queensland Trades and Labor Council next week.
The opinion that moves to enforce a trade boycott against Japan might as a moral gesture, prove effective, was expressed by Mr. Arthur Henderson, Labor member of the House of Commons, on arrival here yesterday. He thought that such steps should be taken internationally through the League of Nations.
