Rotarian's Recorded Views

Examiner (Launceston, Tas. : 1900 - 1954), Thursday 7 September 1950, page 8

Launceston Rotarians yesterday heard a talk recorded by Dr. Sidney Berry of the Croydon (England) Rotary Club while he was on a recent visit to the state.

THE talk was recorded when Dr. Berry addressed the Hobart Rotary Club.

Speaking on 'England Today," Dr. Berry described the situation there as "still a little bit grim."

"Food is still scarce and food parcels are appreciated," he added.

He said the country's role at present was to find the middle path between two extremes.

"The Labour Government is the greatest foe of Communism in England. It is trying to rid the unions' of Communists," Dr. Berry said.

Summing up the present world situation, Dr Berry said: "When historians consider the facts, they will conclude that in a world gone mad Britishers kept to the road of sanity."
