MR. SIDNEY BERRY AT WHITEFIELD'S.

Australian Christian Commonwealth (SA : 1901 - 1940), Friday 23 May 1913, page 17

Whitefield's Tabernacle in 1820. (Not 100% sure this is the Chapel referred to.)

Rev. Sidney M. Berry. M.A., who preached at the Whitefield's anniversary, has only twice before preached in London since he succeeded Dr. Jowett at Birmingham. Very wisely he is concentrating all his energies upon his own particular work at Carr's Lane Chapel, whose high traditions he is maintaining with marked success. He inherits much of his father's charm of personality, and in the pulpit he is a commanding figure, with every possible advantage that physique and voice can confer.

Not a trace of nervousness was visible on Friday. His self-mastery was complete. He conducted the whole service and gave it a unity that was quite marked. Mr Berry's handling of Christ's words, "The fields are white unto harvest, but the labourers are few ... pray ye therefore," was characterized by clarity of exposition and force of application.
