On the afternoon and evening of Anzac Day (Tuesday next), we are to receive a visit from a distinguished Christian Leader in the person of Dr Sidney Berry M.A. one time minister of Carr's Lane, Birmingham Congregational Church where Dr Dale and Dr Jowett ministered. Then for twenty-five years he was secretary of the Congregational Union of England and Wales and now is secretary of the International Congregational Church.
Dr Berry has visited the United States of America, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and India.
He is to arrive in Queensland on April 22nd. He will preach at the City Congregational Church on Sunday morning April 23 and at Ipswich on Sunday evening of that day.
On Monday he will be tendered a civic reception by the Lord Mayor of Brisbane and will address a meeting of the World Council of Churches.
On Tuesday (Anzac Day) he will be brought to South Coast town to see our beaches; and after tea with the ministers of religion and their wives he will address a United Churches meeting in the Congregational Church, White Street, Southport at 7.30 p.m.
Dr Berry is the author of several books and he brings with him a wide experience. His visit to Southport should stimulate the whole Christian community of the South Coast area. Dr Berry is a native of Southport, England, and we look forward to Southport (Q'ld.) giving him a right royal welcome—(Contributed).
