Warsaw, August 14.
A romance is reported from Pinsk reminiscent of the Bible story of Laban deceiving Jacob when he wanted to wed Rachel and making him first marry her elder sister Leah.
A rich American orthodox Jew returned to his native town to seek a wife for his son. He chose Lucy, a beautiful brunette and the youngest of four daughters of a Polish co-religionist.
According to orthodox Jewish custom, the bride kept her face covered throughout the evening of the wedding, which was celebrated at midnight. After the ceremony, the bridegroom lifted the veil and was shocked to find that he had married Rose, the eldest sister of Lucy.
The bridegroom fainted. His father is beginning divorce proceedings.
