Joseph Ratcliffe lived near Alton, Staffordshire born 1826. In 1854 he went north with Phillipine Metzler to get married in Scotland. Following their marriage, they boarded a boat and landed in Sydney, Australia.

Ratcliffe - Logan

The wedding was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Casino, of Josephine, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs. J. Ratcliffe, Casino, to W./O. Logan, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Logan, of Footscray, Victoria. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Fr. Relihan, of Casino.

The bride wore a frock of all over lace over satin, and carried a sheaf of white camellias and maidenhair fern. The tulle embroidered veil featured a coronet of orange blossoms and camellias.

The bridesmaid was Miss Ann Keogh, of Lismore, who wore a white lace long-bodiced frock with a full-flared skirt and pink hat. Her bouquet was a sheaf of pink gladioli and pink camellias.

The groom was assisted by Sergeant Jim Rosewarne, of Victoria.

Miss Alice Morressy sang during the signing of the register. After a brief honeymoon, W./O. Logan returned to his unit.
