Samuel Logan grew up in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. He established a boat building business and he and Elizabeth had six children including my great grandfather, John Maxwell Logan.

The instruction given at the above school is calculated to fit pupils for either university and professional career or for commercial life. Special attention is paid to modern languages. Shorthand and drill (the only extras) are taught at a small charge.

Successes have been obtained during the year at the following examinations:—The London matriculation, the Cambridge local (21 successes). Durham University, Oxford University, and the College of Preceptors; also an open scholarship for mathematics has been won at St. Catherine’s College, Cambridge.

The fee for day boys £3 per term. Boarders are received by the Head Master. The new term now commenced and applications should be made at once.

The combined photos in the heading are believed to be Samuel and Elizabeth Logan nee Charles. This was the second marriage for Samuel having married Hester Rutt who had been widowed with young children under tragic circumstances.
