Henry Scott (1881 - 1958) was the Uncle of James (Jim) Norman Rosewarne. Jim's mother, Helen May Scott was the younger sister of Henry. Their parents were Walter James Scott and Rosina Scott nee Causon.
Henry was 35 years of age when he enlisted in 1916. He was wounded five times in action - including once where he was injured from aircraft fire while in hospital recovering from a previous wounded in action.
For conspicious gallantry while in action near VILLERS BRETONNEUX E of Amiens on 4th May 1918. This N.C.O. was in charge of a patrol sent out to locate an enemy post which was causing trouble. Coming under M.G. (machine gun) fire the patrol was dispersed, L/Sgt SCOTT, although wounded himself realising that the enemy may get identification from his wounded comrade dragged him for some distance until finally becoming too weak he returned for assistance and refusing to have his own wound dressed, until he led back the stretcher party and rescued his comrade.
The conduct of this soldier was then, and has always been a source of inspiration and a splendid example to his men.
